NAIROBI, Kenya Nov 7 – Senators have eulogized the late Nyeri Governor Gakuru Wahome as a man who was diligent, principled and as a man who would have spearheaded development in Nyeri County.

Senators who resumed their sittings on Tuesday after a month long recess took the opportunity to pay tribute to the fallen Governor who passed on Tuesday morning after being involved in a greasily road accident along Thika-Murang’a Road.

The Senators in their condolence message said Gakuru was a hardworking Kenyan with his contribution highly remembered in the implementation of the Vision 2030 programme while he was serving as the director before joining politics.

Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen while eulogizing Gakuro gave assurances that the House will provide any support needed when called upon by the County Government of Nyeri.

“If there is any support Nyeri residents want, this Senate will be there to help in terms of transition, passage of relevant laws and disbursement of county funds, among other needs,” Murkomen said.

Busia Senator Amos Wako remembered Wahome as a very industrious man after working with him in a committee under the Vision 2030 programme.

“I knew Wahome would be exemplary to other governors in the country in governing Nyeri County,” he said.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi on his part challenged the Ministry of Transport to move with speed and improve the road at the scene Wahome got an accident on grounds the areas is a “blackspot.”

“I also remember surviving an accident narrowly around Kabati in Murang’a after the rains where the accident took. It is high time the ministry takes appropriate measures to avoid further fatalities,” he said.
