, NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 10 – The mysterious witness, who appeared at the Lake Nakuru chopper crash site and the recent accident involving Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru, has been arrested.

The man who has identified himself as Dennis Muigai Ngengi, Henry or Andrew Kirangi was arrested in Juja Friday morning.

Police say they are investigating him because he has been impersonating police and military intelligence officers claiming to be based at State House, Nairobi.

He first appeared on TV claiming to be a pilot at the Lake Nakuru chopper crash two weeks ago, but it is his mystery appearance at the scene of the road accident that claimed Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru’s life, that surprised many.

“Gakuru told me that he was hurt in his leg before he passed out…” he told journalists at the scene of the accident.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has confirmed the arrest and said he may be charged with impersonation once investigations are completed.

Kenyans were quick to come up with a challenge dubbed #EyewitnessChallenge after labeling him a harbinger of death.
