, NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Police lobbed teargas outside Kasarani Stadium to disperse thousands of Kenyans locked out of the gates.

The agitated crowd wanted to force their way inside the stadium, overwhelming tens of police manning the entry.

A section of the barrier was destroyed prompting police to lob teargas.

“We were here by 4am, we must witness the ceremony,” a visibly angered John Wambugu said.

More people could not be admitted inside the 60,000 capacity stadium since it was fully occupied at around 9am.

“I appeal to all Kenyans locked outside to be patient. There will be screens for you out there where you can follow what is happening,” appealed the emcee.

Already legislators, senior security personnel have arrived at the stadium.

About 13 Heads of State are expected to attend the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
