NASA yet to submit committee nominees as Parliament resumes

The Jubilee Party has already lined up its preferred nominees to sit in the various House Committees with the list expected to be tabled on the floor of the House when it convenes/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 29 – Parliament resumes its sittings Wednesday in the face of a looming paralysis as the Minority Coalition in both Houses of Parliament is still yet to submit its list of nominees to committees.

The Jubilee Party has already lined up its preferred nominees to sit in the various House Committees with the list expected to be tabled on the floor of the House when it convenes.

The National Assembly will convene Wednesday morning while colleagues in the Senate will sit later in the afternoon.

Before going on recess, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and his Senate counterpart Kenneth Lusaka vowed to press on with the formation of the committees when Parliament convenes if the Minority Coalition will still not come up with its list.

The Minority Coalition had engaged the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament requesting for more time to come up with official lists of nominees and it remains to be seen which reasons they will offer in the eventuality they fail to produce the same.

The legislators have until December 7 to streamline affairs before they again break for the long Christmas holidays which would see them resume sessions in February.
