NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Deputy President William Ruto has said he will support President Kenyatta in building bridges of unity in their second term in office.

Ruto spoke after Tuesday’s inauguration ceremony where he pledged to work tirelessly to transform the country.

“My friend Mr President we will stand behind you. We will support you as you build on the foundation of building bridges across communities; building bridges of friendship, unity and brotherhood and all of us as the people of Kenya we must stand together and say no to hate, to resist division and to reject violence,” said Ruto.

The DP said the recently concluded elections demonstrated that Kenyans were able to make choices not based on ethnic persuasions but national interests.

Ruto was sworn in after President Kenyatta took his oath of allegiance and due execution of office at a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice David Maraga.

Ruto swore to duly execute his functions in the Office of the Deputy President with diligence.

President Kenyatta and Deputy President Ruto signed their respective oaths in the presence of nine Heads of State and Government as well as over 60,000 Kenyans at the arena.
