, NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Several people were injured after they attempted to force their way into the already packed Kasarani Stadium to witness the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Police lobbed teargas while agitated youths hurled stones at them, demanding entry to the venue.

“We were not blocked from voting. Why now?” One of the women locked outside wondered.

Despite the tear gas, the agitated youths remained resilient chanting ‘haki yetu’ slogans.

A handful managed to access entry into the main stadium, but didn’t go far before police caught with up them.

They were clobbered out of the stadium.

“I just want to see President Uhuru Kenyatta…” Janet Wambua said.

They demanded screens to be able to follow the proceedings from outside or gain access into the stadium.

But despite assurance by the organisers of the event, there were no screens for them.

The event organisers spent slightly above Sh300 million.

It is an event where at least 13 Heads of State were expected.
