NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 16 – The High Court has dismissed an application seeking extradition of Kenyan lawyer Paul Gicheru to the International Criminal Court to face charges for allegedly bribing witnesses in the Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto case.
Justice Luka Kimaru, while declining to issue the order for surrender also lifted the warrant of arrest issued against Gicheru, saying the application did not meet the required criteria.
“The application filed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on May 28, 2015 lacks merit and cannot stand,” the judge ruled.
Justice Kimaru said that there are certain international conditions that were not met so as the court could issue the order sought.
