NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 17 – The High Court has stopped the intended arrest of businessman Jimi Wanjigi granting him an anticipatory bail of Sh50,000.
In his orders, Justice Chacha Mwita directed that Wanjigi should not be harassed until Thursday this week when the suit he has filed under a certificate of urgency will be heard inter-partes.
In his suit papers, the businessman denied knowledge of the cache of firearms recovered at a villa in Malindi claiming they do not belong to him.
The businessman testified that the events have been orchestrated to embarrass him and thereby settle political scores.
Police have further been restrained from breaking and damaging his property in anyway. But the court has not stopped a search into his businesses or property.
Under a certificate of urgency, the couple also wants Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet held personally liable for destruction of their property in the the ongoing raid on their Muthaiga estate.
Through Murumba and Awele advocates, Wanjigi has faulted the forceful entry into their home and destruction of property worth millions of shillings.
Describing it as a violation of their right to privacy, human dignity and terming it as illegal and unjustified.
