Search for bodies following Nakuru helicopter crash resumes Monday

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 23 – The search for the bodies of five victims who perished following a helicopter crash in Lake Nakuru continues Monday.

Debris from the Lake Nakuru plane crash have since washed up in several parts of the expansive Lake but no bodies have been found yet.

The parts located so far include the helicopter’s doors, headphones used by some of the five victims who perished in the crash and other parts.

Also found was a bag belonging to the pilot which contains the aircraft’s documents, according to personnel undertaking the search and recovery.

The wreckage of the chopper was spotted on the southern part of Lake Nakuru National Park late Sunday by a team from the Kenya Navy, Police and Wildlife Service who are conducting the search.

The chopper crashed into Lake Nakuru on Saturday at about 6.00am, shortly after take-off from Jarika Hotel in Free Hold Estate in the town where it had been parked since Wednesday, according to area police chief Joshua Omukata.
