NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 19 – A consultative meeting between Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and all presidential candidates and their running mates has been put off.
Through its twitter handle the electoral commission said a date will be given on when the meeting will be held.
“Today’s 2.30pm meeting with presidential candidates has regrettably been rescheduled. We will update,” it stated.
In a letter addressed to all the candidates, Chebukati had stated that discussions will be based on how the electoral commission can deliver a free and fair poll to Kenyans.
On Wednesday the IEBC boss painted a picture of desperation at the helm, while accusing majority commissioners of always arm-twisting him to endorse illegalities.
Thursday’s meeting with presidential candidates also came a day after Commissioner Roselyn Akombe resigned at the electoral body, saying she could not continue serving under prevailing circumstances.
