Final batch of presidential ballot papers arrive Tuesday

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 23 – The final batch of ballot papers to be used in Thursday’s fresh presidential election is expected to be delivered in the country on Tuesday morning.

Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Warehouse and Logistics Manager Bernard Ochari says the plane carrying the consignment from Dubai, will touch down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 10am.

He was speaking after receiving the second batch of ballot papers, which arrived at the JKIA on Monday evening.

The consignment of 183 pallets of ballot papers earmarked for 22 counties arrived shortly after 5pm aboard an Etihad Airlines Cargo plane.

Some of the ballots are to be dispatched to Kilifi South, Teso North, Likuyani, Tharaka, Kesses, Turbo, Rabai, Hamisi, Teso South among other constituencies between Monday and Tuesday.

The first batch of 43 pallets of ballot papers arrived in the country on Saturday evening and have been dispatched to far flung areas like Turkana, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Isiolo, Samburu, Laikipia Counties and the Diaspora.
