, NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 19 – The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati has now called all the Presidential candidates and their running mates for an urgent consultative meeting set to take place in the afternoon.

In a letter addressed to all the candidates, Chebukati says discussions will be based on how the electoral commission can deliver a free and fair poll to Kenyans.

In his statement Wednesday, Chebukati painted a picture of desperation at the helm, while accusing majority commissioners of arm-twisting him to endorse illegalities.

Thursday’s meeting with presidential candidates comes a day after Roselyn Akombe resigned as a commissioner at the electoral body, saying she could not continue serving under the prevailing circumstances.
