PSVs to be locked out of the centre of Nairobi

Passenger vehicles from Waiyaki way, Uhuru highway, Kipande Road and Limuru road will be required to end their trips at Fig Tree A in Ngara on Murang’a Road/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 15 – Public Service Vehicles in Nairobi County will be required to pick and drop passengers in specific zones outside the Central Business District as part of measures to decongest the city.

Passenger vehicles from Waiyaki way, Uhuru highway, Kipande Road and Limuru road will be required to end their trips at Fig Tree A in Ngara on Murang’a Road.

Those from Thika Road and Kiambu Road have been allocated a terminus which will be known as Fig Tree B.

All the vehicles that go past Ruiru but branch off before or at Kenol town on Meru-Nairobi road their terminus will be at Desai Service Road terminus while all upcountry vehicles on Uhuru Highway will park on Park Road.

Public Service Vehicles from Ngong Road will have their termini at Railways, while vehicles from Jogoo Road and Lusaka Road will be terminating at Muthurwa while all high capacity buses from upcountry will be stationed at the Machakos terminus.

Acting Nairobi County Secretary Leboo ole Morintat says the changes will take effect from September 20, 2017.

The county, Kenya Police and National Transport and Safety Authority will start the enforcement immediately after the order takes effect with those operating Public Service Vehicles expected to comply to avoid inconveniences.
