Fix things fast, Kaparo tells IEBC

Kaparo urged the Commissioners to put their house in order to ensure Kenyans have confidence before the October 17 presidential election/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 8 – The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has expressed its disappointment following disagreements between IEBC Commissioners.

Speaking on Friday, the Chairman of the Commission, Francis ole Kaparo, said it’s unfortunate that the body mandated by the Constitution to deliver credible elections to Kenyans is in disarray.

“As a Commission we are very disappointed with what is going on at IEBC. We ask them to solve their matters and guarantee Kenyans of credible elections and nothing short of that,” said Kaparo.

Kaparo urged the Commissioners to put their house in order to ensure Kenyans have confidence before the October 17 presidential election.

On Thursday, National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga maintained his stand that he will not participate in the next month’s elections if IEBC does not address pertinent issues they raised.

With barely a month to the fresh presidential elections, the embattled IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba has not come out publicly to address the issues emerging at the electoral body.
