, NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 7 – The Director of Public Prosecution has directed that administrative action be taken against police chiefs who led an operation to recover guns stolen from Booker Police Post in Kakamega County.

This follows a probe by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority on last year’s incident, which established that members of the public were assaulted among other acts amounting to police misconduct.

The DPP has also directed that a public inquest is conducted before a magistrate to determine the circumstances under which one person lost his life when fire gutted his house during the operation.

Victims of the assault have been advised to seek redress in a civil court.
