NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 9 – Mike Sonko is leading in the Nairobi gubernatorial race with slightly more than 300 polling centres remaining to call.
The Jubilee candidate was ahead of incumbent Governor Evans Kidero an hour to midday on Wednesday with 792,847 votes, with the Orange Democratic Movement candidate securing 635,990 votes in 3,076 out of the county’s 3,378 polling stations.
At the time, valid votes cast stood at 1,483,064 with 595 disputed votes and 20,938 rejected votes.
The voter turnout for the reporting polling stations stood at 66.8 per cent of the 2,250,853 registered voters in the county.
