Suspects, cars held as police seize heroin plus Sh4.5mn cash

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 24 – Police in Nyali Estate within Mombasa County have seized heroin worth millions of shillings in the continued crackdown on the war against illegal drugs.

The operation that was led by the Head of Anti-Narcotics Unit Hamisi Massa led to the arrest of three suspected drug barons.

The detectives have gone to court seeking five days to conclude the investigations while the suspects remain in custody.

“The Tanzanian national poses a great flight risk and is likely to abscond if released therefore greatly dealing a blow to the successful investigation and prosecution of the case,” reads the application by Prosecution Counsel Lydia Kagori.

The suspects are held at Nyali Police Station.

The heroin was recovered in a kitchen hidden behind a cooker, according to detectives.
