NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 25 – The National Elections Tallying Centre to be located at the Bomas of Kenya will be ready by the end of this week, according to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba.
Speaking to Capital FM News at the venue Chiloba said that the Commission will be moving its essential election management department.
“We are setting up different operation centres; they include the logistics operations centre, security operations centre, we have the media centre. We also have the call centre being set up and the entire ICT infrastructure as well. If you move around you will see that there is a lot of activities going on; we expect that by the end of this week, this place will be fully set waiting for the August 8 date,” he explained.
This is the second time the cultural entertainment amphitheatre which stands on an expansive ground will play host to the National Tallying Centre.
Bomas of Kenya had closed its doors on June 28 to allow for repair works which included the installation of a public address system that was being fitted into the iconic amphitheatre which was being tested when our crew conducted a spot check.
Accredited journalists covering the event will also find filing their stories from the venue easy following construction and equipping of a well-ventilated and spacious media centre situated next to the amphitheatre.
Only duly accredited agents will have access to the centre in a bid to enhance transparency.
