NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 12 – Three Citizen TV journalists were among five people injured when a small aircraft crashed near the Southern bypass in Kibera.

Reports said the crew was headed to the Rift Valley for a National Super Alliance rally in Baringo when the mishap occurred.

They were rushed to the hospital and were due to be discharged later on Wednesday after undergoing medical check-ups.

NASA leaders were due to address rallies in Eldama Ravine, Kabarnet and Tiaty all in Baringo County.

The journalists included Sam Ogina, videographer Mauritius Odour and radio journalist Joseph Njane.

The three were said to be in a stable condition.

NASA Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga said the accident, “reminds us of the sacrifices journalists face daily in their quest to keep our citizens informed, an effort we sometimes take for granted until an incident like today’s happens.”

“We thank God for their saved lives and we assure the reporters, the Kenyan media fraternity and the Royal Media family in particular that our thoughts and prayers are with them.”

“It is my hope and prayer that we will see Oduor, Ogina and Njane back on the campaign trail before Election Day.”
