NYANDO, Kenya, Jun 10 – Nyando MP Fred Outa has claimed that his life is in danger after his vehicle was shot at in a chaotic burial of former area MP Miruka Owuor.

Outa who is vying for the Kisumu Senatorial position on an ODM ticket accused some politicians of ferrying goons to the funeral with the aim of attacking him.

Chaos started when MP Outa stood to speak to the mourners when a crowd started surging towards the dais before hell broke loose.

Locals are accusing the MP of having had a hand in the recent ODM shambolic party primaries that locked out Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma from securing the ODM ticket.

Speaking after recording a statement at the Kisumu Central Police Station, Outa says he will not be intimidated and will continue to campaign in the entire county for his senatorial bid.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga who accompanied him called upon the police to step in and stop political violence.

Ruth says the convoy of ODM gubernatorial candidate Prof Anyang Nyong’o was tear gassed at Kondele a week ago and nothing has been done about it.

She says that ODM candidates in the county are being targeted and told the police not to take political sides and bring to an end such actions.
