Candidates eyeing lucrative MCA seats in Nyeri express fear for their safety

NYERI, Kenya, Jun 12 – The MCA Jubilee nominees in Nyeri county have raised concern over their security stating that their opponents are hiring goons to disrupt their campaign rallies.

Led by Chinga ward nominee, Kiruga Thuku, the 30 candidates said that during a recent rally hat was sponsored by the party, they were harassed by youths in what they termed as a planned attack by their opponents.

Speaking at Green Hills hotel in Nyeri, Kiruga urged their opponents to maintain peace and order during the campaign period and after the August polls.

They team also said that insecurity will affect their delivery where they called on relevant authorities to beef up security during this season to ensure no one is attacked.

In addition, they said that they will tour the entire county to woo voters to elect President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for a second term.

At the same time, the leaders said that they will ensure that they follow the Jubilee party directive of maintaining peace and order.
