NAIROBI, Kenya, June 29 – Attorney General Githu Muigai will on Thursday morning receive the report of the WAKF Taskforce established in 2015 to examine international best practice in line with Islamic law.
In October last year, Muigai appointed a 10-member task force to align the 1951 Wakf Commissioners Act with the Constitution.
The task force led by Hamadi Boga will be presenting its recommendations to guide the administration of the Commission and its properties.
The Wakf commissioners administer properties and related matters in the Muslim community set aside for charitable purposes.
Members of the taskforce included Sheikh Ibrahim Lethome, Sheikh Abdallah Kheir, Sheikh Juma Ngao, Zubeir Hussein Noor, Prof Saad Yahya, Dr Mwanakitini Bakari and the Chief Kadhi Sheikh Ahmed Muhdhar S. Hussein.
