NAIROBI, Kenya May 29 – President Uhuru Kenyatta was set to present his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Monday, in seeking formal clearance to defend his re-election.

Officials in his campaign team said the president, accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto, will begin the journey from Pipeline, Outering Road, Makadara, Muthurwa, Ukulima Market, Railways round about, Kencom bus stage where he will address a series of rallies on his way to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Six other presidential aspirants including Joseph Nyagah were among those scheduled presenting their papers to the Wafula Chebukati-led team.

The electoral body has so far cleared three candidates to vie for presidency—including Thirdway Alliance of Kenya candidate Ekuru Aukot, ODM Candidate Raila Odinga and Abduba Dida of the Alliance for Real Change Party.

IEBC on Monday morning rejected the bid by Justus Juma of Justice Freedom Party citing anomalies on his academic papers because his degree was not certified as required.

Chubukati, who is the returning officer for national presidential election said the proposer to the candidate belongs to the Jubilee Party and cannot therefore be relied to propose him among other anomalies.
