Huduma to deliver services to citizens in weekly outreaches

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 11 – The Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs has unveiled a citizen-centred mobile outreach programme through which government agencies will deliver services to citizens in weekly outreaches.

Speaking at a press conference at the ministry headquarters Thursday, Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki said the programme dubbed Huduma Mashinani will provide key services currently offered at Huduma Centres.

“This is a joint outreach programme that will be bringing the commonly sought after public services to our citizens more so the services that are pertinent to the youths and women,” CS Kariuki said.

“This concept will adopt the Huduma Centres model of having public services under one roof,” she affirmed.

Kariuki said the programme will be rolled out in all the 290 constituencies in the country beginning Saturday, with flagship outreaches slated for Friday.

On Friday, residents of Naymira, Kisii, Migori and Homa Bay counties will be among the first beneficiaries of Huduma Mashinani with services being offered including application of National Identity Cards, Birth Certificates, Police Abstracts and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) services.

Other essential services will also include National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Women Enterprise Fund, Youth Fund, Uwezo Fund applications.

Nairobi residents will have an opportunity to access the services on Saturday in Mathare, Kawangware DC, Mariguni, Kangemi and Roysambu sub counties on Saturday.

In the Coast region, services will be made available to residents of Mwakirunge in Mombasa, Lungalunga in Kwale, Gongoni in Kilifi, Hindi in Lamu, Minjila in Tana River and Mwatate in Taita Taveta.

Wajir and Mandera residents in the Northern region will be served on the same day in Eldas Town and Elwak respectively.

Residents of Kalol in Turkana Central, Wamba town in Samburu, Makutano in West Pokot, Endebes in Trans Nzoia, Kibiyet in Nandi, Marigat in Baringo and Iten in Elgeyo Marakwet counties will also have the mobile services on Saturday.

In the Central and South Rift region, the outreach will be held at Maili Sita in Nakuru, Ololunga in Narok, Isinya in Kajiado Kipkelion in Kericho, Bomet stadium in Bomet and Turbo market in Uasin Gishu County.

The Western region residents will access the services in Ikolomani (Kakamega), Lwakhakha (Bungoma), Malaba border (Busia), Gem (Siaya), Maseno (Kisumu), Mbita Town (Homabay), Awendo (Migori), Tabaka market (Kisii) and Nyamusi in Nyamira County.

Moyale Town (Marsabit), Garbatula (Isiolo), Athi River Tow(Machakos),Kibwezi (Makueni), Mutomo market (Kitui), Nkubu (Meru), Kirugu (Embu) and Marimanti residents in Tharaka Nithi county will also have the services brought closer to them on Saturday.

Finally, the Huduma Mashinani outreach will be taken to Chaka market (Nyeri), Bidiroku (Kirinyaga), DO’s Office (Murang’a), Kamwangi (Kiambu), Rumuruti (Laikipia) and Kasuku in Nyandarua county.

According to CS Kariuki, Huduma Centre officers will be dispatched to other sub counties as well to conduct the weekly outreaches which will be supported by regional and county based Huduma offices.

“We are going to the Mwananchi at the grassroots level in order for us to intensify the reach of our services,” she said.
