KANGUNDO, Kenya, May 18 – Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Dr Alfred Mutua has cautioned leaders against making utterances that many cause anarchy before and after the elections .
Mutua who is the Machakos Governor said a section of leaders were setting the tempo for violence if they lose in the August elections.
“Those who have sensed defeat should keep off the polls instead of inciting their supporters. This country is bigger than all of us thus the need for peaceful campaigns and polls,” said Mutua.
He added that political leaders should learn from what happened in the 2007 elections that led to deaths and destruction.
Mutua said all aspirants should preach peace during the campaigns.
“Our leaders should also learn to respect rulings given by courts. Disregarding courts is fanning anarchy,” said Mutua
He said leaders saying that they will not respect the outcome of the polls wanted to hold the nation at ransom.
Mutua was speaking in Kangundo constituency during meet the people tours in Kamanzi, Kivaani, Kikambuani and Kangundo towns.
Mutua who was accompanied by the party aspirants eyeing various elective seats urged the electorate to re-elect him for another term.
“I also urge you to vote for my party candidates. I need a team that I can work with effectively,” said Mutua.
He urged voters to elect leaders based on their development score card and not political parties.
Mutua said only leaders of high integrity should be elected to positions of leadership.
He said his party had attracted aspirants across the country and will win many elective posts.
