NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 18 – A former Public Service Commission (PSC) employee and four Members of Parliament are among aspirants who have secured their nominations in the recently concluded ODM party primaries in Narok and Busia County.

According to official results released by ODM’s National Board Chairperson Judith Pareno, Busia County Woman Representative Florence Mutua, Butula MP Joseph Oyula and Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga easily fought off competition to be the party’s flag bearers in their respective seats ahead of the August 8 General Election.

Former Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala secured the ODM ticket to book a showdown with current MP and former ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba who last year left the party to head the Labour Party of Kenya where he will be defending the parliamentary seat.

In Narok former PSC employee Rebecca Tonkei will now face incumbent Soipan Kudate of Jubilee Party and former Heritage Minister William ole Ntimama’s daughter Lydia Masikonte, who is in Chama Cha Mashinani.

Tonkei is the wife of former Internal Security Minister George Saitoti’s bodyguard Joshua Tonkei. Saitoti and Joshua perished in a helicopter crash on June 10, 2012.

Political analyst Ledama ole Kina is the ODM pick to face former Narok South MP Nkoidila ole Lankas in the August 8 race to replace Senator Stephen ole Ntutu. Ole Ntutu has set his sights on the Governor’s seat.

Newcomers Wilberforce Oundo will be looking to take over from embattled Busia gubernatorial aspirant Paul Otuoma after he bagged the Funyula ODM ticket.

Obetele Lawi, Geoffrey Omuse and John Musundi also secured their tickets to represent the Orange party in the Teso North, Teso South and Webuye West contests.

In Bungoma County, John Makali will carry the Orange flag in the parliamentary contest in Kanduyi where he will renew his rivalry with current MP Wafula Wamunyinyi of Ford-Kenya.

John Musundi is the man ODM will be tasking to unseat former Kenya Volleyball National team captain Dan Wanyama who will be defending his seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
