NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 19 – Chaos erupted in Ruiru after supporters of nominated Member of Parliament Isaac Mwaura and those of his competitor Simon King’ara clashed.
The bone of contention was a sun shade built by Mwaura but his competitor also wanted a share of the glory.
The two met at the disputed project as they toured the cosmopolitan constituency in Kiambu County ahead of Friday’s Jubilee Party primaries which have raised political temperatures.
As Mwaura insists that one of his ears was injured by a bullet, Ruiru police chief Isaac Thuranira says he was caught up in the melee.
“No guns were involved. The youths were throwing stones at each other,” he told Capital FM News.
The MP was rushed to hospital where he received treatment.

Thuranira has cautioned politicians against using the youths to cause violence.
Pockets of violence continue to be witnessed across all parts of the country as major parties carry out their nominations.
Jubilee Party primaries will be on Friday with a major showdown expected as heavyweights face off.
The season has also been characterised by cases of alleged kidnapping.
The latest is that of Ikinu Member of County Assembly aspirant who went missing but was later found in Mlolongo.
Last week on Friday, Kabete Parliamentary aspirant Charles Chege aka Chege Fresh also went missing and was found two days later in Narok.
