President Kenyatta to attend Nderitu Gachagua’s burial Monday

Gachagua died at the age of 64 years at a London hospital after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 5 – The late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua will be buried on Monday.

Gachagua will be buried at his rural home in Mathira Constituency, in a ceremony to be attended by several political and government officials—including President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“The President will be coming here tomorrow (Monday) to join residents at the Governor’s funeral and burial ceremony,” Esipisu told journalists at a media briefing in Sagana State Lodge Sunday.

Gachagua’s body is expected to be transported from the Lee Funeral Home on Monday morning, according to a programme released by his family last week.

Others expected at the funeral are governors, senators and MPs.

Security was tight at Gachagua’s Hiriga home in Mathira West as burial preparations got underway.

Gachagua died at the age of 64 years at a London hospital after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Upon his death, the deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai was sworn as the County’s new Governor.
