Police hunt woman who hired goons to evict Kiyiapi’s running mate

Nairobi Police Chief Japheth Koome says the woman will be charged with malicious damage of property/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 24- Police in Nairobi are pursuing a woman behind Friday night’s raid on Winnie Kaburu’s rental home in Westland’s.

The woman only identified as Mercy wanted to forcefully evict Kaburu the home she has inhabited for 10 years.

Kaburu was James ole Kiyiapi’s running mate in the 2013 election.

Nairobi Police Chief Japheth Koome says the woman will be charged with malicious damage of property.

She hired over 50 goons to evict Kaburu from the home.

“What she did was criminal,” said Koome. “She did not have a court order to evict Winnie Kaburu.”

Kaburu and Kiyiapi contested under the Restore and Build Kenya party in 2013.
