NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 4- Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau has defended Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka over allegations that he grabbed 4000 acres of land in Mavoko.

The legislator said that as the area Member of Parliament, he is not aware that Kalonzo owns land in the area.
He dismissed the claims, by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, as propaganda, only meant to derail his party leader.

The Governor made the claims on November 30, when he tabled documents before the Senate’s Public Accounts and Investments Committee in which he claimed that he had called for investigations into the land-grabbing claims.

“The other day I discovered that Satan with his long tail can enter anywhere, I heard someone say Kalonzo has stolen 4000 acres of land in Mavoko, I can assure you that as the area MP there is no such a land, Kalonzo is as clean as wool,” the vocal MP said.

In a letter written by Ndegwa and Ndegwa Associates, his county government is seen as – on February 24, 2015 – calling on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, National Lands Commission and Commission on Administrative Justice (Ombudsman) to launch investigations into how Musyoka came into possession of three parcels of land – legally or illegally.

“We write for you to immediately investigate and bring to book Honourable Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka… as Vice President, he illegally and irregularly influenced the allocation to himself and through proxies the following parcels of land… in the name of Desiral Ltd a company believed to be registered in his name and that of his spouse Pauline Kalonzo,” the letter reads in part.

This is in addition to the irregular acquisition of his current Yatta Farm as documented in the Ndung’u Report.

As Vice President, Kalonzo is accused of having influenced an extra allocation to himself of about 200 acres of land adjacent to his original Yatta Farm, land that belonged to the National Youth Service.

Mutua produced documents regarding land registered as LR 22278 and IR 130409 in Mavoko municipality within Machakos County, registered under Desiral Ltd- believed to be registered in his name and that of his spouse.

The other piece of land is registered as LR 201185 and IR 673338 – 4,000 acres within Mavoko municipality.

He was speaking during Entumo Oolmakesen clan Prayer day in ilgarooj village, in Kajiado County, where his party leader was present but steer away from the claims.

Kalonzo instead warned against glorifying those implicated in mega corruption scandals in the country saying that trend will collapse the country.

“It seems that those implicated in looting of public funds are the ones highly respected, this can never make a country prosper” the former VP said.

The three-day prayer event was organized by the Entumo Oolmakesen clan to pray for Peace and Unity of the clan and the country.
