NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 25 — President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto were on Friday expected to lead the Cabinet in an evaluation and planning exercise on a retreat at the Sagana State Lodge.

The retreat comes at a time when President Kenyatta and his Deputy have gone all out to defend their development track record and fight off corruption claims.

On Thursday President Kenyatta while on a visit to Bungoma, defended his Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua against allegations that he irregularly sanctioned payment from the Ministry of Health.

“Now somebody is describing the funds we gave to the hospital as theft. Who stole it? Or is it that you do not want Webuye hospital to be supported by the National Government?” said the President.

Deputy President William Ruto has also challenged opposition leader Raila Odinga to show Kenyans what he achieved when he served as Prime Minister instead of constantly focusing on what it is the current leadership is or isn’t doing.

The Cabinet last went on retreat in April.
