, NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 22 – Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Friday night raided the home of Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Eliud Mati in an ongoing corruption probe.

Mati was recently in the news when he was robbed of Sh3.5 million by his own bodyguard who is already facing charges in court, alongside an accomplice.

Tharaka Nithi County Commander Mary Omari says detectives also raided the home of Mati’s close ally, a retired chief, where they found Sh2 million in fake currency and a machine to print fake money.

The retired chief is being held to assist police with their investigation.

The EACC sleuths also ransacked the home of Tharaka Nithi Health Executive Magdalene Njeru.
