NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 4 – Police on Tuesday arrested a man who boasted on Facebook of defiling a Class 4 pupil in Sotik.
The area Police Chief Jonathan Ngala said the man who goes by the name Mohammed Alfayo on social media was arrested in Chepilat on Tuesday afternoon.
This followed a directive by the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet for the immediate arrest of the man.
Speaking to journalists at Harambee House earlier on Tuesday, Boinnet cautioned the public against posting incriminatory remarks and photos on social media warning that those culpable will be brought to book.
“We have identified that person; I might want to add that Kenyans need to be very wary of their activities on social media, overall that’s against the law and it offends the morals of our society,” he said.
Kenyans on social media were left in shock after the man boasted on social media of having a sexual encounter with the minor and even posting photos of the girl in a bush, with many calling for his arrest.
Just last month the Kenya Airports Authority terminated the contract of one of their employees after posting dirty messages about sexual encounters with underage girls.
His case is currently under investigation.
