NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 3 – National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale says Jubilee will on Tuesday nominate two representatives to the selection panel on the recruitment of new IEBC Commissioners.

Duale said they will hold a meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto the same day to deliberate on the matter.

The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly who was speaking in Mombasa when he met members of the Somali community at Jubilee Hall, said they are fast tracking the process to ensure the current commissioners leave office on time.

“On Tuesday, we are going to nominate our two representatives to the selection panel on IEBC,” he said.

He further dismissed calls that the Issack Hassan led team to vacate office, saying they can only exit once the new commissioners are sworn in.

“The constitution does not anticipate a vacuum so Issack Hassan and his team will only leave when the new commissioners take the oath of office.”

The new Election Laws (Amendment) Act takes effect from October 4 and President Kenyatta signed it on September 14.

It introduces a wide range of electoral reforms including a new framework for the recruitment of IEBC Commissioners.

President Kenyatta is expected to choose seven IEBC chiefs from 11 names that will be forwarded to him.

Earlier Sunday through State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, the Head of State called for patience on the process guiding the exit of IEBC Commissioners from office saying it is still within the timelines.
