The officers who were driving through the town were stopped by the gunmen who were disguised as women in buibuis but shortly after a shootout ensued.

The officers were driving a vehicle belonging to the area Governor Ali Roba, who was not present during the incident.

Police have since launched an operation to pursue the gunmen, who escaped towards the Kenya-Somalia border in the latest attack in the town.
