NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 12 – Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Eliud Mati on Wednesday reported to police that his bodyguard – an Administration Police officer – robbed him of Sh3.5million at gunpoint at his homestead near Kinoru Stadium.
According to Meru Police, the bodyguard confronted the Deputy Governor when he was alighting from his vehicle and grabbed a bag containing the cash.
Reports indicated that the AP aimed his pistol at the Mati forcing him to run for his dear life.
During the commotion, it was reported that the bodyguard left his shoes behind and disappeared.
The Deputy Governor alleged that he had received the cash from the sale of a piece of land.
Police said they had launched a manhunt for the bodyguard attached to the Marimanti South Administration Police camp after visiting the scene of crime.
