NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 14 – The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is from Monday next week set to embark on a one month recruitment exercise.

A statement from the Ministry of Defence stated that candidates are required to be Kenyan citizens between 18 and 26 years old being physically and medically fit according to KDF standards.

“The Kenya Defence Forces is pleased to announce to the general public the recruitment of General recruits, Constabularies, and Tradesmen/women which is scheduled to take place from 19th September 2016 to 18th October 2016 at various centres countrywide,” the advert stated.

According to the advert in the local dailies, male recruits are required to weigh a maximum of 54.5 kilograms while their female counterparts should not exceed 50 kgs according to the rules.

“Citizens are further notified that recruitment is only conducted at the advertised recruitment centres countrywide during daytime before 1800hrs on weekdays. Successful candidates will be issued with calling letters at the recruitment centres by the recruiting officers.

The advert further warned that any person purporting to recruit or issue an alleged calling letter away from a recruitment centre will be doing so fraudulently.

“Corruption, bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law. All persons presenting themselves for recruitment purposes with fake/falsified documents or caught engaging in any corrupt activity shall be arrested and prosecuted,” it pointed out.

The military will be enlisting general recruits, constabularies and tradesmen during the national recruitment exercise which will end on October 18.

According to the statement, those seeking to join as general recruits should have a mean grade of D plain and above and constabularies should be below 55 years, have no criminal record and be ex-KDF members who have served for at least nine years.
