LSK slams police for frustrating oversight authority

“Witnesses have recorded statements but the OCPD has refused to honour summons and instructed officers under his command not to cooperate with the Authority.”

The OCPD is also being probed over illegal arrests and detention, “without being recorded in the OB as per the law.”

IPOA has also urged the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to intervene and institute criminal charges against anyone obstructing its officers from carrying out their lawful functions.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has defended the Kayole Police Chief but has not commented on the new allegations of frustrating IPOA investigations by ordering officers not to cooperate unless instructed to do so by his office.
