KIAMBU, Kenya, Aug 22 – The Kiambu political arena continues to witness realignments with leaders and opinion shapers each positioning themselves with hopes of being close to top leadership in the gubernatorial seat which is likely to be hotly contested.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo at the weekend garnered the support of artistes who endorsed him for a second term.

The artists who converged in Ndumberi to launch the Kiambu Artistes Sacco noted the efforts by the County Government to nurture and harness their talents in a move aimed at empowering them both economically and position them for the music market.

Those present included renowned gospel artists Loise Kim, Ben Githae, Muigai Njoroge and other secular artistes from Kiambu.

The Sacco chairperson Pastor Triza Wairimu recognised efforts like the talent search programs organised by the County Government for the last two years saying that many artists have since strategically positioned themselves in the market.

“Kiambu Government will go down the history lane as the first ever government institution to support upcoming musicians and artistes through the Kiambu Iko talent program, where such talent is bred and grown,” she said.

Welcoming the support, Governor Kabogo said the government is keen on empowering the residents from all walks of life.

“We are in the process of constructing a talent academy in Kirigiti, Kiambu with an aim of nurturing these talents to empower the artistes and prepare them for the job market,” noted Kabogo.
