My day with JB family, the elephants of Amboseli

Their calves suckle until their mum gets a new calf after around five years.

Norah’s motivation emanates from her wishes to see Kenya preserve her wildlife more so elephants whose life is constantly under threat due to poaching.

In April this year, Kenya set ablaze 105 tonnes of ivory from thousands of elephants killed, dwarfing by seven times any stockpile burned before.

Kenya has also lost several elephants following human wildlife conflict that prompt communities to kill them.

According to Norah, if conservationists work well with communities, poachers will not have their place and communities will also know how to live with the elephants and their economic and social importance.
