“I am the County Senator and I am mandated by the Constitution to represent the interests of Nairobi residents and make sure no one infringes on them,” declared Sonko.

Reporters were bundled out of the room following which pandemonium broke loose with other Senators and security personnel coming between the two as they went at each other.

“You are the number one thief and City Hall… you are not qualified to be in this County Government. If you want to see what I am made of, let us go out,” Sonko shouted at Kidero who responded by walking out of the room.

The session ended in disarray and was adjourned indefinitely.

“It has been a low moment of shame in Parliament,” said Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who is a member of the committee through his Twitter account as he expressed his disappointment.
