, NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 10 – Friday marked exactly four years since the death of former Cabinet Minister Professor George Saitoti and his assistant Joshua Orwa Ojodeh who died in a helicopter crash in Ngong.
They died alongside their two bodyguards and two pilots – all police officers – when their helicopter went down in Ngong as they headed to a church fundraising service in Ojodeh’s home turf in Ndhiwa.
An investigation showed that the helicopter crashed less than 10 minutes after take-off from Wilson Airport.
Families of the two leaders were to hold private memorials on Friday even as they await answers on what led to the helicopter crash, four years on.
Saitoti was Kenya’s longest serving Vice President during former President Daniel arap Moi’s regime, while Ojodeh is remembered as fierce politician who vigorously defended the police in Parliament.
