MACHAKOS, Kenya, Jun 30 – Governor Alfred Mutua has assured residents of Machakos County that locals will be given skilled and non-skilled preferences in road construction projects.
He said this while inspecting the ongoing construction of the Konza to Katumani road which will link Machakos New City to Konza Techno City.
“We will be hosting many visitors on October 20th during Mashujaa Day and we need this road in motorable state to assist in traffic control,” he said.
He urged the contractor, China Wu Yi Company Limited, to ensure that the work is speeded up and locals are contracted.
Already the project has considered 45 drivers and 60 labourers for employment who are from the region.
This is one of the roads being constructed and speeded up under the Maendeleo Chap Chap paradigm in the county.
