Uhuru, Ruto start North-Eastern visit, launch Elwak-Rhamu road

At Wargadud town, President Kenyatta – accompanied by the Deputy President and local leaders including Governor Ali Roba and Senator Billow Kerrow – commissioned the construction of an airport and the tarmacking of the Wargadud-Bambo section of the Elwak-Rhamu road.

President Kenyatta also visited Rhamu town where he launched the last section of the Elwak – Rhamu road.

Addressing thousands of residents who had turned out to receive him and the Deputy President, President Kenyatta said the government intends to extend the tarmacked road to Mandera town at a cost of Sh8 billion.

He said the government is also working with the Inter Governmental Authority on Development to fast-track implementation of an irrigation project at River Dawa that will benefit the people of Mandera County, especially Rhamu residents.

President Kenyatta also disclosed that the region will be connected to the national grid to accelerate the supply of electricity through a project that will start in Garissa town.

Governor Roba led leader local leaders and residents in commending the Jubilee Government for it development initiatives in the county and assure the President and his deputy of their total support.
