According to an official from SRC, the exercise will be conducted in collaboration with the Teachers Service Commission and private consultation firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
“SRC is tomorrow kicking off the job evaluation exercise for teaching service in all the 47 counties,” the commission said in a statement Sunday.
SRC Chairperson Sarah Serem will be in Mombasa leading the discussion and carrying out job analysis while vice chairman Daniel Ogutu will be heading the team at Lions School in Kisumu.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers says that the job evaluation being is a ploy to undermine the pay negotiations between teachers and the Teachers Service Commission.
The Union’s Secretary General Wilson Sossion told Capital FM News that the exercise was being undertaken without any consultation with the unions and discouraged teachers from participating.
He indicated that if the exercise were to be done, it would be the sole preserve of the TSC.
He further pointed out that teachers do not know the tools being used or even the expected outcome from the exercise.
