Kenya is democratic, but go easy on the hatred – Uhuru

Thousands of residents thronged roadside meetings addressed by President Kenyatta where local leaders expressed their appreciation of the government’s development initiatives.

He addressed two roadside meetings attended by thousands of people in Eldama Ravine town where he announced that the process of issuing title deeds to residents will begin next week.

The process is scheduled to be completed within six months.

The President later proceeded to Nakuru County and addressed three other roadside meetings at Maji Mazuri, Makutano and Kamara. President Kenyatta also promised residents of Maji Mazuri and Kamara that they will soon be issued with title deeds.

The President then proceeded to Total where he launched the construction of three interchanges along the Eldoret-Nakuru-Nairobi highway at a cost Sh2.6 billion.

The interchanges will be at the Nyahururu turnoff, Njoro and Mau Summit turnoff.

The President instructed the Ministry of Infrastructure to ensure local youth get employment as well as business opportunities during the construction of the project.

“From now on the Ministry of Infrastructure should document and tell us how many local youth get employment from such projects. We are not saying that other people should not get employment opportunities but locals must get there share,” said the President.

President Kenyatta said the law on ensuring the youth and women get 30 percent of all government procurement should also be part of all mega projects including road constructions.

President Kenyatta said the Government is focused on development and will not be distracted by those whose agenda is to dwell on arguments.

The President and his deputy were accompanied by Baringo Governor (Benjamin Cheboi), Nakuru Governor (Kinuthia Mbugua) among other leaders.

President Kenyatta later addressed public gatherings in Njoro and Nakuru town.
