NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10 – Former National Youth Service Director Nelson Githinji and two others have been charged with abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud the NYS.

Githinji, Nicholas Makokha – who was then chief inspector of NYS – and Geoffrey Kiriha, the then senior superintendent mechanic, however denied the charges before a Nairobi court.

Githinji faced an additional charge of fraudulent acquisition of public property.

Kiriha and Makokha are accused of using their positions to help Githinji confer a benefit of Sh497,355 to repair his personal vehicle on June 4, 2014.

The three were released on a Sh200,000 cash bail each with alternative bond of Sh1 million each.

The case will be mentioned on March 3, 2016.
