The ceremony was attended by local and international dignitaries–including Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and The Aga Khan who are in the country on invitation of the President.
Deputy President William Ruto, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi and his Senate counterpart Ekwe Ethuro as well as Cabinet Secretaries were also present at the ceremony, attended by all service commanders and other local leaders and Kenyans from all walks of life.
On arrival, the Head of State inspected a guard of honour which was followed by entertainments from various groups before speeches.
President Kenyatta will address the nation on various outstanding issues on security, social and economic development and will most likely touch on the controversial Eurobond alleged scandal.
