NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 17 – President Uhuru Kenyatta Thursday morning bade farewell to Liberian President Ellen Sirleaf Johnson after her State visit to Kenya.

President Sirleaf came to Kenya on December 10 for the visit followed by other high level engagements.

On her arrival, the Liberian leader was given a grand reception at State House, Nairobi before the two leaders held bilateral talks.

During her stay, President Kenyatta decorated President Sirleaf with Kenya’s highest Presidential award- Chief of The Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (CGH).

President Sirleaf addressed the inaugural forum of the International Forum of Women in Business, where she acknowledged Kenya’s progress in Women’s empowerment.

The Liberian leader also led her country into acceding to the World Trade Organisation during the 10th Ministerial Conference of the WTO in Nairobi.

During her visit, President Sirleaf described Kenya as a shining example in Africa in terms of progress in development as well as democracy.

She thanked Kenya for its support to Liberia and other West African nations in fighting against the Ebola epidemic.

The Liberian leader also expressed her gratitude for the role Kenya has played in Liberia’s search for peace after the civil war.

She was seen off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by President Kenyatta, the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Samson Mwathethe and the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet among other officials.
