President Kenyatta’s family joined worshipers for Mass at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa

MOMBASA, Kenya, Dec 25 – President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday joined Christian faithful at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa to celebrate Christmas.

The President, who was accompanied by members of his family, called on Kenyans to be kind to those in need.

“Let us adopt the spirit of helping those who are in need and I take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2016,” said the President when he addressed the congregation at the end of the mass.

The Father who led the mass urged Kenyans to be kind to one another and to protect each other. The Father also commended Muslims in Mandera who shielded their Christian compatriots from attackers who ambushed a bus travelling from Nairobi to Mandera town.

“The action by our Muslim brothers in Mandera was our Christmas gift. They said enough is enough, we are all brothers and sisters and you cannot divide us using religion. Something special is happening in Kenya,” said the Father.

President Kenyatta, who has commended the Muslim passengers who put their life on the line to protect their fellow Christian passengers, urged Kenyans to support and protect each other.

“I wish you all a merry Christmas and may God’s blessings be upon us,” said the President.

The President was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, their children and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
